Olympic torch designer accepts Honorary Degree

Olympic torch designer Jay Osgerby has spoken about the importance of his year-long Foundation course in Art and Design while accepting his Honorary Degree.

Had I not come to Brookes and done my [Art and Design] Foundation course I'm not quite sure what I'd be doing now, but it was super important and I think Foundation courses are critical to the creative industries and the creative economy in this country.

Jay studied at Oxford Brookes, formerly Oxford Polytechnic, in the late 1980's. "My Foundation course here was completey pivotal because it really helped me decide what I was going to study at my degree and later on for my Masters," explained Jay after the graduation ceremony at which he spoke to students.
